Creations of Hope Gallery (909 N Kansas) is pleased to present Opposing Forces an exhibit highlighting the artwork of two dynamic artists, the imaginative figurative art of Emeline Fuller along with the fine art photography of Dave Horner. The exhibit will be on display through the month of September. Creations of Hope is a collective gallery with a mission of raising awareness of mental health through the power of art. The gallery is sponsored by Valeo Behavioral Health Care and is supported in part by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the arts, a federal agency. STUDIO 831 (831 N Kansas): Lois VanLiew is our Featured Artist for September at STUDIO 831. She presents an exhibition entitled One Moment in Time: “Every historical ‘moment in time’ has had a specific and unique focus, especially with fashion. A large part of this exhibit features the current fashion trends of tattoos, rainbow hair colors and body piercings. Other inspirations came from a Kentucky Derby party this spring and still others from Dia de Los Muertos celebrations here in NOTO.” These colorful works are a statement about trends and culture, but they are also a visual delight. NexLynx Gallery of Arts (123 SW 6th): Discover art downtown and view the beautiful oil paintings of Hi Stockwell. His exhibit, “Sunrise Sunset” will capture the breathtaking views of the mornings and evenings Hi has seen from his travels. SOHO Interiors (3129 SW Huntoon - Westboro Mart) is pleased to have Charlotte Nickel back this month with an unveiling of two new paintings! "Red Rabbit Rising", a continuation of her rabbit series, along with one other to be unveiled and added to the exhibit which will extend through September. Charlotte Nickel was recently featured on the cover of the August edition of "Sallie Magazine" published by the Emporia Gazette. The artist will give a talk at 7:00p. Amused (907 N Kansas): Wonderland comes to our main gallery! The Third Annual Alice in Wonderland Showcase features works inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic novel. Throughout September, check out this favorite show and be sure to take your picture in the themed selfie spot. Don't forget to visit the open artist studios and gift shop. Brooks and Nathan Biester are mixed media Pandamonium Arts and would like to welcome you to come check out their featured artist show in our upstairs event space (3rd floor). Matryoshka (902 N Kansas): Abstract artist Allison Koerner-Smith is Matryoshka's featured artist for September. Allison gets her inspiration from capturing light. Its elusive quality can transform a figure or a landscape in just a matter of seconds. She strives to convey that sense of place by capturing its fleeting magic. Her goal is to inspire those who see her work to look (and feel) more carefully at the world around them and to discover beauty in the most unconventional places. Glaciers Edge Winery (1636 SE 85th Street - Wakarusa): We will have the tasting porch and patio ready for you to spend your September FFAW at the winery. Our featured musical artist will be Patric Hamilton. Tod's BBQ Food Truck will be in the parking lot! Our newest Wine, Red Rox-Ett, makes it debut! Enjoy wine and slushies by the pour or a bottle while enjoying live music! Feel free to bring lawn chairs to enjoy our outside vineyard view! On Fridays we open at 12 noon! Alice C. Sabatini Gallery at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (1515 SW 10th Ave): Join us for EDGE: on the verge. This juried fiber art exhibit pushes the idea of what a quilt can be. From small to large, these fiber artists from around the world, will make you re-examine what you think you know about textiles. Beauchamp's Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon - Westboro Mart) opens a new exhibit In the Prairie which features new artworks by two of the area's best known regionalist painters - Nora Othic and Kristin Goering. With bright colors and bold imagery, Othic and Goering put a modern day spin on the 1930s regionalism of Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry. Both artists will be on hand for an opening reception held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk. The exhibit will be on display thru mid October. FFAW hours are 5:30-8:30p.
