2016 LEGACY AWARD WINNER!! The Topeka Art Guild (5331 SW 22nd Place - Fairlawn Plaza Mall): The Topeka Art Guild & Gallery exhibit which has been juried by Ye Wang continues through November. Winners of this juried show: Pat Abellon, oil, first place; Ryan Johnson, oil, second place; Ruth Powers, guilt art, third place. Honorable mentions include Kathleen Cobb, oil; Charles Benton, photography; Becky Drager, acrylic; Deena Rood, pottery. Also on exhibit in November is art by Hayden and Mater Dei High School students. Come see all the beautiful art works in all media and enjoy good food and drink with members of the guild. In celebration of the Guild's 100 anniversary year, The Topeka & Shawnee County Library is exhibiting art works by founding members and donated to the library in 1979 by the guild. Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (1515 SW 10th) is pleased to bring you the Printed Image 6 which features the newest, most exciting works in contemporary American printmaking. This national juried printmaking competition is sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Artists from all over the country competed. A total of 91 artists from 29 states entered 256 prints. The field was narrowed to 48 prints by this year’s juror, Stephen Goddard, Associate Director, Senior Curator of Works on Paper, and Professor of Art History at the Spencer Museum of Art. Printed Image 6 opens on Friday November 4, and we welcome you back on Saturday November 12 from 2-4p for the awards ceremony, where our juror Stephen Goddard will give a gallery talk. 9a-9p.

Art Print Express (1047 SW Gage - Fleming Place): Kansas artist Kathleen Cobb creates cozy comfortable wistful paintings that bring back memories from our past and prompts images in our dreams. Seeking out the stillness of nature and the perfect scene to express her love of the land, she regularly goes out seeking her inspiration throughout the flint hills and our beautiful landscape throughout northeast Kansas near her Holton home. Her work can be found on KansasArtGallery.com where you can see a video short of her discussing Light on the Past a piece that inspires memories of those simpler days when the old country store was a familiar site in the neighborhood. A collection of Kathleen Cobb’s work For the Love of the Land is presented through the rest of the year at the new Kansas Art Gallery located with Art Print Express at 1047 SW Gage, Blvd. Suite B, in Fleming Place.
