WELCOME TO THE ARTWALK!! The Firehouse (2705 NW Topeka): The Firehouse is about gathering with friends and family. Creating handmade projects with the help from our team of professional crafters.During our DIY workshops we provide all the tools & materials including lots of laughter and fun for everyone! During our First Friday events you will be able to purchase a unique sample of what is available during our normal workshops. We will be offering snacks, drinks and crafts. FFAW hours are 5-9p.

Topeka Performing Arts Center (214 SE 8th): This will be children's art work from McCarter Elementary School's 4th grade students. The artwork will be displayed throughout the TPAC building. The theme will be community, diversity, and a positive future. Anything broken can be mended. The students will share their positive view of mending a broken world through art. The art will first be displayed March 2nd for the art walk and then stay up through the Jesus Christ Superstar performances on March 23 and 24th. FFAW hours are 5:30-7:30p.

Creations of Hope Gallery (909 N Kansas): Featuring the exhibit "From the Earth: Works in Clay and Wood," highlighting the therapeutic benefits of sculpting and building as artistic outlets. The exhibit features work by Tina Brackman, Vaughn Graber, Grace Mather, Dana St. John, Deena Rood, Carl Griffin, Pamela Rees, Kelly Holmes, Corissa Uphoff, and Gaylon Shannon. Creations of Hope gallery is collective gallery focused on raising awareness of mental health and the healing power of the arts, sponsored by Valeo Behavioral Health Care. NexLynx Gallery of Arts (123 SW 6th): Discover Art Downtown and enjoy paintings of various mediums by returning artist, Dorethy Hancock. See how Dorethy captures her love for traveling and nature in her art and sharing her experiences of beauty seen around the world. Jump into spring and get into the Irish Spirit by wearing green to receive a St. Patty's Day prize! We will be serving Irish themed/greenish snacks, soda, beer and wine. 5-8pm. Amused (907 N Kansas): Happy FFAW! Alexandra Jael, our featured artist for the month of March, is an Italian born artist living in Topeka, KS. Her work spans across many mediums that is stylized in a dark and whimsical way. Exhibiting her feelings about depression and her thoughts on being a woman in modern society. Also, for one night only, the Washburn University Advanced Sculpture Class under the instruction of Benjamin (Ben) Wills will be taking over a section of our second floor. NOTO ArtsPlace (905 N Kansas): Book Launch "The Hero Within" - new children's book by Mike Berndt with Illustrations by Brad LeDuc. The launch event with books available for purchase and signing will be accompanied in the ArtsPlace gallery by the original paintings, on loan from the Lowell Milken Center for this One Night Only Event. The Lowell Milken Center sponsors the classroom based program that encourages students to find and research "Unsung Heroes." Mike and Brad's book helps introduce this project to elementary aged children.  Bring the kids. Glaciers Edge Winery (1636 SE 85th Street - Wakarusa): Begin March with an evening with us and try our brand new Sweet White Wine: Vidal Blanc! Our featured entertainment will be Americana acoustic artist, Kirk Drager. Abuelita's Mexican Kitchen will have food for sale inside the Winery. Enjoy wine and slushies by the pour or a bottle while enjoying live music and fantastic food! We will be open late to celebrate First Friday!(Only alcohol produced at Glaciers Edge Winery is able to be consumed on our property;guests consuming alcohol must be at least 21 yrs old) Located S of Topeka on SE 85th Street. Topeka Art Guild & Gallery (5331 SW 22nd - Fairlawn Plaza): Please join us FF for an evening of great food and drink and meet the artists. The Topeka Art Guild & Gallery has new artists, media and styles showing in the gallery. Exhibit also includes sculptures of bronze, gourds, textiles, glass, and more. Students from Highland Park High School will show their most creative and best art works. The guild offers a mixed media workshop by Kayann Ausherman in March to anyone interested. The Open Window (927 N Kansas): The Open Window is excited to be showing the work of Robert Tapley Bustamamte! Join us for an evening of enjoying this amazing art, shopping, and wine tasting brought by Wyldewood Cellars. 11a-9p.

Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (1515 SW 10th Ave): Join us at the Sabatini Gallery for an evening of food and conversations hosted by TopCity Black Business First Fridays. During the evening there will be a brief presentation on the Black Business District of 4th Street before Urban Renewal. In addition, Tara Dimick of TK Business magazine would like to have a brief community conversation on ways the magazine can support small business efforts. African American Builders of Topeka will be on display in the Alice C. Sabatini until March 11. 5:30-8:30p.

Matryoshka Tattoo (902 N Kansas): Stop by this month to view some local artwork created by creative and talented up & coming Topeka High School art students. Best of student work from last semester and new emerging artists from this semester will showcase a variety of work ranging from 2D to 3D exhibiting what students are creating in digital photography, design, ceramics, jewelry & drawing classes. Looking forward to having you stop by to view a new collection of talented student work! Prairie Glass Studio (110 SE 8th): The upcoming First Friday Art Walk will feature our beautiful fused glass creations and also 3 artists from one family, Jennifer and Sydney Haugh and Jenn's father, Bill Cowan. Come see their beautiful art. 3-2-18 from 10am to 8pm. Kymm dedicates each First Friday Art Walk to a non-profit and donates 50% of the sales for the day to that organization. On March 2, Topeka Performing Arts Center will be the recipient. So come, enjoy, browse, eat, drink and be arty. 10a-8p.

Topeka High (800 Sw 10th, 3rd Floor): Make sure to stop by Topeka High School to see what our latest batch of talented students have created so far!  We will have work on display from a multitude of art creating in digital photography, design, ceramics, jewelry, drawing and painting classes. Topeka High will also have work on display at Matryoshka Tattoo & Gallery.  Stop by either place to see the amazing work Topeka High students are creating. Mulvane Art Museum (1700 SW College): Join us in the Blitt Gallery for a conversation with Gabriel Racca from Kansas City Community Gardens on creating community gardens in your neighborhood. Pesticide free, organic and shown to increase community bonds, this initiative for creating a safe and healthy space in communities is a growing trend across the United States. Beauchamp's Art Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon - Westboro Mart): Beauchamp's Gallery opens a new show this week.  "Iconic Topeka" is an exhibit of two dozen paintings by Pat Abellon which feature well known Topeka locations.  Included is imagery of the Capitol Building, Kansas Ave., Cedar Crest, Topeka High School, the Brown v. Board of Education Building & other locations.) SOHO Interiors (3129 SW Huntoon): "Living Expressions" an exhibit by watercolor artist, Lila Bartel, is featured in the SOHO Gallery this month.
