NexLynx Gallery (123 SW 6th, 2nd Floor): Discover art downtown with an opening reception for artist Morgan Celeste. Morgan enjoys working with acrylic, mixed media, and watercolor in a variety of styles. Giving her art an eclectic appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds. She will be showcasing pieces inspired by nature - from soft flowers to rocky brooks. Creations of Hope Gallery (727 S Kansas): Featuring artwork by Lacy Noll. The artist shares this about the exhibit: “Art for me has always been a coping mechanism to avoid and deflect the harder parts of my life. Since becoming an adult, my current pacifier has been my career as an officer and my art is used as an opportunity for income and self expression." FFAW hours are Noon-8p.

Topeka Art Guild & Gallery (5331 SW 22nd Place - Fairlawn Mall): Topeka Art Guild & Gallery is full of beautiful paintings, photography and textile art - all priced at $100 and less. You will also find a wide assortment of glass art, pottery, gourds and jewelry. Gift yourself or someone special with original art. Artist Mary Bauer is featured this month and she specializes in fine ink drawings and acrylic . The guild will host an exhibit by Shawnee Heights High School art students. Join our local artists and students for great food and conversation on first Friday. The gallery is located at the west end of Fairlawn Plaza Mall. Regular gallery hours Wed-Sat 11a-5p. Stephen Smith Gallery (931 S Kansas): Joining the Gallery are two fine art photographers bringing their unique approaches to creating imagery that fosters respect for the natural world. Vincent Farnsworth (Montrose, CO) explores landscape as a panoramic vista stretching across the entire field of view. John Finch (Wichita, KS) exemplifies love and respect for nature from all corners of the world. Finch draws you in with visual appeal, as well as the written word. Matryoshka Tattoo (902 N Kansas): Matryoshka's featured artist is Allison Koerner-Smith. As an artist, Allison works hard to develop pieces that speak both to her and to others about the beauty that exists. Different mediums allow her to express different ideas. Amused (907 N Kansas): We are repeating “Small but Mighty” this month! Local artists have created 6" x 6" pieces of art. A statement on their own or dramatic in a collection. It's easy to find a spot for these. We are still hosting a “chair-ity” event benefiting the Quincy Elementary Art Department. Artists have embellished children's chairs to be auctioned off. Bidding (on Facebook or in person) ends January 19th. All proceeds will be used to resupply the school's art department. Regular hours are Weds & Thurs from 1-6p, Fri from 11a-6p, Sat from 11a-5p and Sun from Noon-4p. FFAW hours are  11a-9p.
