Norsemen Brewing Company (830 N Kansas): Come up to our 3rd floor Event Space to see our featured artists. Our December featured artists are James and Anita Young, a local author/artist couple from here in Topeka. Anita's artwork focuses on mental illness issues with the goal of facilitating public conversation. Her piece, "Depression," won the Best of Show Award in the 2016 Human Experience vs. Abstract exhibit in Overland park. James writes alternative World War II history and military science fiction novels. His novel _Acts of War_ was ranked #1 on the alternative history sales chart in 2015. 5-10p.

NexLynx Gallery of Arts (123 SW 6th): Discover art downtown and celebrate with the 2017 People’s Choice Winner! View the scenic paintings by Kathleen Cobb, where she captures the beauty of Kansas, paying special attention to the light in each scene. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2401 SW Kingsrow Rd): Everyone is welcome to attend the 6th annual Nativities and Noels. This is a free event that features about 700 nativities, live Christmas music, a nativity photo booth, refreshments, and other activities. The nativities, which are on loan from church members and friends of other faiths, include ornaments and traditional, miniature, handmade, electric, musical, children's, and international nativities from about 90 countries. They are of various sizes and are made from such materials as porcelain, wood, clay, cloth, paper, beads, marbles, corn husks, coconut shells, gourds, and recycled pop cans, steel drums, and auto parts. Creations of Hope Gallery (909 N Kansas): Join the Creations of Hope gallery during First Fridays on December 1st for the opening of “Quiet Images and The Beauty of Nature” an exhibit by photographer David Zlotky and painter Lola Williams. David states “I love photography because it allows me to share bits and pieces of the world that I find beautiful, inspiring, and perhaps imbued with the spirit of a hidden story.” Lola shares “I believe that Nature is where I find inspiration for my paintings, and even thought I can’t copy it, I just do it my way.” The Creations of Hope Gallery is located at 909 N. Kansas Ave. in the heart of the NOTO Arts District and is a collective gallery with the shared mission of raising awareness of the healing power of the arts. Beauchamp's Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon - Westboro Mart) opens a new exhibit Kansas Waterways featuring the paintings of celebrated local artist Cally Krallman. For this exhibit, Krallman, known throughout the region for her depictions of spectacular of Kansas skies, turns her attention to the rivers, streams and ponds of Kansas. Cally will be on hand to greet guests and talk about her work. The show can be seen at Beauchamp's Gallery through the Christmas season and up to mid-January. 5:30-8:30p.

The Hive NOTO (918 N Kansas): NOTO art gallery The Hive, inside Generations Antiques, will spend 2017’s final First Friday Art Walk celebrating the literary arts with a dual book release/signing party featuring two local authors. Local authors Dennis Etzel Jr., and Sylvia Colombo will be on hand Friday, December 1 to showcase their new books, each of which features art by The Hive resident artists. Etzel is offering copies for $5 to anyone who brings an item on the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment wish list. Sylvia Colombo will join us from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, December 1. Etzel’s poetry reading party runs from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. The Hive and Generations – NOTO’s premiere vintage retail outlet – will open their doors at 10 a.m. 11a-8:30p.

Amused Gallery & Gifts (907 N Kansas): Art doesn’t have to be huge in order to liven up your visual space. We are featuring art of various mediums that are approximately 6”x6.” Our Christmas tree is teaming with handmade ornaments and the gift shop is filled with unique items for that someone who is hard to shop for.
