This regionally and nationally significant piece of public artwork will pay homage to and become a part of the overall experience of 28,000 visitors to the Brown v Board of Education National Historic Site, students at nearby Williams Science & Fine Art Magnet School, residents and visitors.

Painted on private property, we will be raising money to support this project during the remainder of 2017 and into 2018. We anticipate needing to raise between $35,000-50,000. The mural will be painted in spring/summer of 2018. The wall is approximately 27’ H x 110’ W and made of cinder block masonry.

This mural will focus on themes of diversity, equality, justice and inclusion, offering an opportunity to involve students and neighbors in the design and painting of the mural. Kansas City artist Michael Toombs has been identified as our artist of choice. We are currently soliciting funding for this project. For more information, please contact Sarah Fizell at by email or telephone at 785-380-7890.
